Triumph of Venice

Paolo Veronese

Palazzo Ducale (The Doges’ Palace)

DESCRIZIONE:
The central canvas on the ceiling of the Hall of the Great Council constitutes the most grandiloquent image of the glorification of Venice. Created by Veronese following the great fire of 1577, it depicts Venice crowned and surrounded by Honour, Peace and Felicity as the Venetian nobility and the people look on, guarded, however, by soldiers on horseback.
