Nymphs crowning Abundance
Historical Center
- Artist: Pieter Paul Rubens
- Location: Nymphs crowning Abundance
The painting of the famous painter, that created his masterpiece for the altar of the Chiesa Nuova, shows a classic allegory, a genre at which Rubens excelled during the 1600s. Two nymphs at the side of a splendid nude woman, characterized by the cornucopia and therefore called Abundance, crown her with a garland of flowers. The upper part of the painting is completed with putti who joyously witness the scene.
