DESCRIZIONE:

This painting was done by the famous Venetian painter in Bergamo, commissioned by the merchant Felice Cassotti as a gift for his son Marsilio Cassotti and his wife Faustina Assonica, for whom Lotto had already painted a double portrait for their wedding (Madrid, Museo del Prado).

The iconography is that of Saint Catherine receiving the ring from baby Jesus in the arms of the Virgin Mary while surrounded by Saint Anthony the Great, Saint Nicholas, Saint Sebastian and Saint George.
