The Augustus of Via Labicana
Termini, San Lorenzo

- Location: The Augustus of Via Labicana
- Date: 100 B.C.
Generally dated immediately after 12 B.C., year in which Augustus became pontifex maximus, here dressed as emperor in this full-length depiction. Octavian wears a toga and a hood like priests in sacred rituals and he holds a rolled parchment in his left hand. The statue was found at the top of the Colle Oppio on the road from which it takes its name.
