This is one of the first eight canvases of a series of around 250 paintings that the french painter did of the flowers in his garden in Giverny near Paris, where he moved in 1883. Monet created this special place inspired by Japanese gardens with a small footbridge over a still pool, which he painted at every hour of the day and in all seasons until 1909.
