- Location: Mosaico di Innocenzo III
- Date: 1200
A fragment of mosaic made for the apse of the Basilica of Saint Peter at the Vatican during the period of Pope Innocence III (1198-1216). The small piece, golden-weaved, of obvious bizantine influence, shows the feminine personification of the Church of Rome, crowned like a queen and it was probably meant to be a counterpoint to the Eastern church in its original design.
