Xing presents the sixth edition of Live Arts Week, which will take place in Bologna from the 26th to the 29th April.
Live Arts Week VI will be spread across a variety of different spaces and will reactivate the Ex GAM art space for an intense performative marathon, paying homage to the seminal Settimana Internazionale della Performance, which took place in the very same venue, the historic Bologna Gallery of Modern Art, in 1977.
Live Arts Week will consist of four days differentiated by character and rhythm: an opening scattered across different galleries, non-profit spaces and the Teatro Comunale, and three daily appointments which will restore to the public - albeit for only a brief period - the spaces of the Ex GAM.
The 2017 program is marked by a range of artists’ impressions: light to forceful, dense to diffused, individual and collective. A selection of live performances which represent a multiplicity of actions, introducing us to the variegated panorama of the performativity of today, a whirlwind experience that leaves the spectator truly stunned.
Unique in Italy, this event dedicated to live arts, hosts a blend of new productions that revolve around the presence, performance and perceptual experience of sounds and visions, with a program that offers a calendar of live works (performances, environments, concerts, expanded cinema with unique dates, productions and previews) presented by important personalities in the international and contemporary research scene.
Gianni Peng, a name that will accompany the festival in its organic growth, indicates the time of these transitions. It is a phenomenon, not a person: a new identity, unlikely but real, to be treated as an abstract concept.
