Très Belles Heures de Notre Dame de Jean de Berry
Museo Civico D’Arte Antica – Palazzo Madama
The Duke of Berry commissioned his famous manuscript in around 1380. Turin is home to some of the pages that came into the possession of John III, the Duke of Bavaria and Count of Holland in 1422-23 (other pages can be found in Paris). Jan van Eyck was asked by John III to continue the decorative work on the exquisite manuscript and it has been established that the Flemish master was responsible for the scenes with the Birth of John the Baptist and the Requiem Mass, whereas his apprentices were behind the other miniatures.
