The Virgin Appears to Saint John of Nepomuk
DESCRIZIONE:This work was created by Tiepolo to celebrate the fourteenth-century Bohemian martyr, since the church possessed a reliquary bequeathed by August III of Saxony. The extraordinary luminosity of the apparition of the Virgin makes this painting one of the artist’s greatest works. The altar, by Giorgio Massari, dates from the same period.
