Galati Grimani
National Archaeological Museum of Venice
The three statues of Galati, Celtic warriors, were uncovered in Rome and originate from the collection of Cardinal Domenico Grimani. These are Roman replicas from the original Greek sculptures created by Attalo I of Pergamon to celebrate his victory over the Galati (230-220 B.C.). The statue of the falling Galati warrior inspired Titian in his Martyrdom of St Lawrence.
