Console with Allegory of Strength
Ca’ Rezzonico – Museum of XVIII-century Venetian art
The Console is the most celebrated of the pieces created by Brustolon for the palace of the Vernier family, and is considered the greatest masterpiece of cabinetmaking in the Veneto in the eighteenth century. Strength is represented by Hercules with the club that supports a platform that resembles a rough tree trunk, on which there are three ebony Moors and two bearded figures carrying vases of Chinese porcelain.
