DESCRIZIONE:
Built in only four months at the end of 1677, it was conceived to be Venice's greatest theatre as it would host the opera. And in fact, the Teatro di S. Giovanni Grisostomo, as it was first known, was known by people at the time as "the biggest, the most beautiful and the richest theatre of the city” as J.C. de Cramailles wrote in 1683. It received its current name in honor of the great singer Maria Malibran in 1835. It was radically renovated in 1919 and reopened in 2001.
