DESCRIZIONE:
Erected in 315 by the Senate and the People to celebrate the decennial of the Emperor and to commemorate the great victory over Maxentius in 312. The triumphal arch, with three passageways, is the best-maintained in Rome, with a series of reliefs taken from works of other periods (Trajan and Hadrian), while others are contemporary to the building of the arch. The latter, demonstrating an enormous stylistic difference with the classical age, make the monument a fine example of the beginnings of medieval art.
