Polyptych of Saint Barbara
The grand polyptych of the right transept was created by Jacopo Palma the Elder for the altar of the Bombardieri, dedicated to Saint Barbara. In the central panel stands the saint, who is given the iconography of the tower in which she was imprisoned, and near to her the painter has portrayed two cannons, the bombards, as a reference to the school that commissioned the work.
