Nude Before a Mirror
This is a later work by Pierre Bonnard, one of the protagonists of French post-impressionism. His wife Marthe, who was the model for almost all his nudes, is shown looking at herself in the mirror in a continuous chromatic variation. This creates a detachment from references to objects for the sake of constructing free associations and continuous correspondences.
