Salita al Calvario
The church contains three paintings by Tiepolo with episodes relating to the Passion of Christ: the Incoronazione di spine (The Coronation of Thorns) and the Flagellazione (The Flagellation) in the nave and the stunning Salita al calvario (The Climb Up Calvary Hill) of the presbytery. Probably realized on commission by the noble patron Alvise Corner, the latter painting is particularly striking for the drama of the scene with its extraordinary depiction of the prostrated body of Christ.
