The mighty shape of the figure, of the fruit basket and of the sculpture in the background mark his participation in the typical geometrical purism of metaphysical painting, that Sironi approached between 1918 and 1922 through the Roman magazine Valori Plastici. Even the colour palette was set on nuances simulating elements like "stone" and "earth", so that art turns into a building force.
