Bronze Statue of Saint Peter

La scultura, attribuita al maestro Arnolfo di Cambio, mostra il fondatore della Chiesa seduto in trono nell’atto di benedire, con le sacre chiavi nella mano sinistra. Posta in fondo alla navata centrale, è da sempre oggetto della devozione popolare, come testimonia il piede destro levigato dal tocco dei fedeli.

Saint Peter seated on a throne, giving his blessing, keys in his left hand, is placed next to the last pilaster on the right of the nave. It is one of the works most connected to the devotion of pilgrims, who, over time, by caressing the feet of the statue have eventually worn the surfaces smooth. The sculpture is traditionally attributed to the master Arnolfo di Cambio.
