The "look" of Antoni Tàpies: that his feeling things, his look around himself without limits of time and space in search of answers about the universe, human nature, the art, the mystery of life.
A year after the disappearance of the brilliant Catalan artist (Barcelona 1923-2012), a key figure of the informal international, the Civic Museums Foundation of Venice and the Vervoordt Foundation pay homage to him with a fascinating exhibition, which aims to reveal the essence of 'art of this indiscussoprotagonista of the twentieth century, through the "his eyes" and therefore those references cultural, artistic, emotional, that he saw in a plurality of expressions or works of art - among the many - collected in his private collection. A look at the same time external and internal.
Tàpies, who in his long life he achieved top honors, including the Gold Medal of Fine Arts from King Juan Carlos, the Honorary Degree from the Royal College of Art in London (1981) and the prize for painting at the Venice Biennale in '93, he questioned constantly on the mysteries of existence, seeking the common trait of humanity beyond the genres of the time and place, an intrinsic sense, a "universal power" in the things from which to draw stimuli and the possible ways. Ancient, modern or contemporary art of various genres and backgrounds by Marcel Duchamp and Paul Klee to Lucio Fontana, Wassily Kandinsky, Miró, Picasso, Goya, products of distant cultures such as African and Asian art and even music, poetry, philosophy and science to "fertilize" the contemporary.
On show: the key works of the great artist with a group of objects, testimonies and works in his collection and the work of some of the most famous contemporary artists, specially called to discuss the issues and instances of the art of Tàpies.
