It closes in October 2014 the first edition of RIEDEL AWARD, the new international recognition dedicated to the art of glass developed jointly by Riedel Crystal, Austrian company with a century-old family tradition in the production of tasting glasses and decanter in crystal, and l 'Venetian Institute of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Venice.
There are many design projects by young artists under 30 glass collected in a few months by the organizers of the competition. After having carefully examined, a panel of experts, including the Georg J. Riedel, 10th generation of Riedel Crystal, has finally declared the winner who will be awarded during the ceremony of transfer of Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 at 17:30 Palazzo Franchetti, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti (Campo S. Stefano in 2945, Venice).
The competition is part of the program of the Glass Award in Venice, the project - now in its third edition - made ??by the Institute together with the Civic Museums Foundation of Venice to promote the heritage of glass attached to the fine tradition of the masters of Murano. In addition to Georg Riedel, the delivery of both awards will be present Gian Antonio Danieli, President of the Institute of Sciences, Letters and Arts, Gabriella Belli, director of the Civic Museums Foundation of Venice and Rosa Barovier, historic glass.
Not only is the glass joins Riedel Crystal Institute Veneto, but also art and design aspects are shared by both partners in their historical path. The products have all signed Riedel attention only to the design, always valuable, original and functional. The same CEO and President of Riedel Crystal Maximilian J. Riedel, 11th generation to run the company, is the principal designer of the lines of wine glasses and decanters.
