Panayiotou was chosen by curator Omar Kholeif, who reviewed over seventy proposals submitted in an open call for participants. Panayiotou has had work in Documenta 13, the sixth Taipei Biennial, and the eighth Berlin Biennale. He was the recipient of The Future of Europe Prize in 2010 and the DESTE Prize in 2005.
Said Kholeif of his choice, “I believe that Panayiotou possesses a singular artistic vision that verbalizes a multiplicity of social, political and historical positions. His work relates, not only to the Cypriot context, but also to the broader Mediterranean region and beyond.”
Christodoulos Panayiotou, born in 1978 in Limassol, Cyprus, lives in Limassol and Paris.
