The project Orient Express : the journey in the development of artistic practice wants to offer moments of discussion on the theme of travel , which is analyzed as a fundamental element in the development of contemporary artistic practice .
Written by Jade Pellicari and co-curated by Elisa Fantin , both the collective Cake Away , in residence for 2013 at the Atelier Bevilacqua La Masa , comes from the idea of wanting to open up new theoretical lines and bring visibility to a topic that appears to be well present in the contemporary art world , but that still is still little addressed by academic research and artistic curation .
The theme of the trip is analyzed through a series of meetings in the whole of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Giudecca , where they invited artists and the art world to present their experiences in a discussion organized in the form of a round table.
Guests will be : Silvio Lorusso and Claudia Rossini Mario Ciaramitaro and Ryts Monet , Mark and Angela Vettese Tagliafierro ; Driant Zeneli , Elena Mazzi . In the contemporary era , where the technical means have allowed a smoother flow of information and knowledge , the journey has reached a different connotations , ie most of the time he was born with the purpose of the production of a specific job often thought of in a certain place .
This has identified some subset of channels and orientation within the theme , which are now regarded as the strands historicized and widely present in contemporary artistic production , such as : web platforms and digital media such as online travel and production of content , the workshop in the East as the development of artistic practice , the geographies of art, new genre public art and travel as a narrative .
