The proposed redevelopment of the museum, supported by the Superintendence for Architectural Heritage and Landscape of Venice and the Lagoon of Venice and the City , has the scientific supervision of the Master Pier Luigi Pizzi , architect, director, set designer and costume designer of international fame and is carried out under ladirezione scientific Gabriella Belli , director of the Venice Civic Museums Foundation and curated by Chiara Squarcina , head of the Museum.
From January 2013, the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo was the subject of an outstanding conservation work that has allowed us to recover not only the main architectural and structural elements , but also the old furniture and furnishings , the magnificent frescoes , stucco and marbles , the precious floors and fixtures . The new layout , which now involves nineteen rooms on the main floor of the palace, recreates the ambience of a noble Venetian house of the eighteenth century and the evolution of trends in fashion, costume and textiles .
Along the route of the new museum visitors will find the atmosphere of the original eighteenth-century environment and have a complete picture of the manners and customs of the time, thanks to exhibition spaces dedicated to the most important nucleus of textiles, clothing and accessories eighteenth secolodel Center for Studies in the History of Textiles and Costume.
Inside the new route proposal museological a novel about the history of perfume essences , entrusted to Mavive SpA , the main partner of this extraordinary recovery operation and development of the museum. In this way Mavive intends to continue and enhance the historic link between Venice and the scent integrating the museum with ancient artifacts , including the handbook in the cosmetics Notandissimi The Secrets de l' Art Profumatoria (G. Rossetti, Venice 1555), the first cookbook West, and " olfactory stations " teaching to an unprecedented study of the history of perfume and fragrances.
