Murano (VE), Saturday 12 and Sunday, July 13, 2014, will see the birth of the first edition of Murano Glass Masters 2014. The Island of Glass.
The initiative, sponsored by the Consortium Promovetro Murano, in collaboration with Lagare spa - as a main sponsor - a company that has been operating for years in real estate development with particular reference to the luxury homes and the tourism sector, under the auspices of the Municipality of Venice and in collaboration with the Civic Museums of Venice, is the first festival where the protagonist is the only material that has made known to the island of Murano in the world.
The event aims to enhance the age-old tradition of Murano glass making, as well as to protect and promote the eco-Artistic Glass Murano, involving the various productive sectors of the island, by the glassmakers to retailers, from caterers to hotels, to artists.
For the two days of Murano Glass Masters will be a number of initiatives and events planned.
One of the pivotal points around which revolve the event will be the Glass Museum of Murano, on the evening of Saturday, July 12, will be exceptionally open from 9 to 11 pm.
Here there will be the exhibition will present a selection of the most valuable artifacts made in the kilns of the associated Promovetro.
An important segment will be dedicated to children. On the afternoon of Sunday 13 July, the garden of the museum will host workshops in the company of master glassmakers, and a friendly moment with a picnic on the lawn.
In addition, for the entire weekend, the glassmakers' furnaces associated with Promovetro will be open to the public to provide live demonstrations of glass processing; Similarly, the stores will observe an extended hours throughout Saturday evening.
Even School Abate Zanetti, center of excellence in teaching techniques and methods of the processing of traditional and contemporary glass art, will open its doors to present the best pieces from his collection, including those from the Murano Prize, organized to increase and enhance the artistic tradition of Murano glass and its continual experimentation. In particular, the works will be exhibited VIP, made on site design by personalities from the world of culture, art and entertainment, including Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo, the London-based designer Vivienne Westwood, actor Alessandro Gassman, the DjAlbertino, the designer Larisa Katz, rugby player Martin Castrogiovanni, the pianist Elizabeth Sombart resonnance Foundation and many others.
Students and teachers will demonstrate their dexterity and creativity in glass, in a series of performances.
Murano Glass Masters will be a big party that will involve the whole island, offering performances and concerts. For the occasion, the caterers have already developed a menu of the glass at a fixed price (35 Euros) with local gastronomic specialties.
Not only, Saturday and Sunday there will be a series of guided tours of the churches on the island that will remain open for the occasion.
