During 2015, important cultural Turin for the EXPO will be further enhanced by the ambitious program of "Torino meets Berlin". After the success of the project dedicated to France, our city will have the opportunity to once again open to the world and to learn more about German culture.
Turin and Berlin, although coming from different paths, they always share a very similar figure of identity.
In the course of history in fact, the two cities have demonstrated their ability to deal with difficulties responding convincingly full of dynamism and transformation. While making the proper proportions, we can say that the recipe put in the proper proportions, we can say that the recipe fielded by Berlin during the post-war reconstruction is very similar to the one chosen from Turin to face the industrial crisis; in both cases, urban renewal has been accompanied and guided by a cultural regeneration of the area. Two metropolitan contexts for different size and vicissitudes that have chosen to deal with the problems of changing skin, becoming training grounds for the future.
"Torino meets Berlin" is a journey through the arts and culture of two people who do not fear the undertaking of new routes and, because of this, they can know each other better by sharing the richness and beauty of the affinity differences.
It opens on November 9, twenty-five years to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The main event takes place at the Teatro Regio in memory of Mstislav Rostropovich in 1989 held an improvised concert in the Berlin Wall, the very next day of his killing: the 'Orchestra of One Hundred cellos' directed by Giovanni Sollima performed musical compositions in dialogue with readings proposed by Andrea Bajan and Michela Cescon, a selection of images provided by Magnum Photos and interviews with personalities of our time, edited by Rai5 which will broadcast the show. The event has received the High Patronage of the President of the Republic.
