Sam Falls. The Four Seasons of Antonio Vivaldi

The first solo show of Sam Falls in the spaces of Franco Noero gallery is an exhibition of one year that is part of the program in a residence built in project space via Mottalciata 10 / B. The Californian artist in the gallery presents a body of work related to the famous musical composition The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi. For the occasion was made the book "Sam Falls, Four Seasons Forever", published by Flash Art Books, with an introduction by Nicolas Trembley:

"We can recognize the ambition of a project on its ability to undermine the usual parameters of a given environment. The project that Sam Falls conceived for the Galleria Franco Noero and that gave birth to this book is inscribed in an artistic context widened.

First, there is the realization of the work, which involves the uncertain notions of the elements of nature, the sun, the wind, the rain, and so on and somehow replaces the author with the climate. Work then there is the same time that, for a few months and in accordance with its cycles, will alter what will be exhibited in the gallery space. Finally, there is the length of the exposure of these canvases which is extended and increased, reaching 365 days. A period that corresponds to the Gregorian calendar, which organizes the seasons, in which the composition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons is reproduced in the exhibition, but slowed to last a year. A kind of tautology that gives us dizzy, because when the viewer will look at any of the works, namely hear the sound of the day or night that corresponds to the time of season when the visit takes place.

Cycles, periods and phases are eternal returns that lie at the heart of the artistic process. The draft Sam Falls, which owes its existence to the case, the discovery of old records of classical music thrown in a waste basket, mentions these topics and introduces fundamental and always in place that are not simply those of contemporary art, but of creation in general. When the show is over, the earth will have taken a trip around the sun and we will be elsewhere, the older, already in the future. "

Sam Falls (San Diego, USA, 1984) lives and works in Los Angeles. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at public and private institutions such as Ballroom Marfa, Texas (2015), Fondazione Giuliani, Rome (2015), Zabludowicz Collection, London and Sarvisalo, Finland (2014), the Public Art Fund, Metrotech, New York (2014). He also participated in group exhibitions in institutions such as Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2015), Mother, Naples (2014) and International Center of Photography, New York (2013).
