One of the most famous and evocative expressions of Renaissance art, timeless masterpiece of the most extraordinary Italian genius, the design known as a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, owned by the Royal Library of Turin, will be exceptionally exposed in the Senate Hall of the Palazzo Madama from April 24 until June 2.
Thanks to the collaboration between the Senate and the Royal Library, during the Exposition of the Holy Shroud, the public can discover the fascinating history of the face of Leonardo, in a space dedicated to the famous drawing in the picturesque setting of the Hall of the Senate.
The face is old and thoughtful image unknown until the early nineteenth century, when the drawing of Turin was rediscovered, replicated for the first time in a book dedicated to the Last Supper in Milan and identified as a self-portrait.

Leonardo Da Vinci, Treatise on Painting The visitors can appreciate the delicate trait of blood and the sign of the unparalleled genius: the play of light and dark, the wise details in the rendering of the characters of the face, and wrinkles, the outline of the nostrils, the fold of the mouth.
In a special display of lights and music specially crafted, an invitation not to be missed to look closely at the image that best of all is the talented Italian.
