Chapeau, Madame!

The new exhibition hall of fabrics illustrates the variety of forms of love over fifty years: the cloches in the twenties, the classical forms revisited, the Basques to Greta Garbo and volumes daring to Schiaparelli in the thirties; simple patterns made ??with poor materials and daring wartime; the toques, hoods flowers, feathers and veils of the fifties, to the ballon fur and wide-brimmed hats of the late sixties. Complement the usual dress of the lady of the nineteenth century, the hat gets in the twentieth century must-have accessory for women of all social classes. In the twenties, born a new image of women and the modern dress, the hat follows closely the change, with the freedom and imagination allowed by its purely aesthetic function.
The hats are from the collection of the Art School Musical "A. Passoni "in Turin, created thanks to donations from citizens, and highlight the particular shade of style ladies Turin, known for its elegance updated on the international taste, which serve as high-level as millinery Vassallo and David, or purchase a Paris at the most prestigious houses: Caroline Reboux, collaborator of Worth to the Empress Eugenie, Mary Guy, his pupil, Maison Lewis, rue Royale. Even in the following decades, the excellent millinery, which Cerrato, Maria Volpi, Chiusano and Rigo, Gina Faloppa, maintain a privileged relationship with the French capital and propose, next to his own creations, patterns originals or copies under license from the house as Pierre Balmain, Christian Dior, Jean Barthet, Claude Saint Cyr.
Along with the exhibition Palazzo Madama launches the project Stories of fashion. The trades of fashion in Turin 1860-1960, the survey focused on tailoring, millinery and the cobblers Turin. The museum will seek the help and cooperation of its audience to survey and collect evidence and documentation of activities that represented excellence of creativity and industry in Turin. The goal is to create a new archive of communities that will be made available on web platforms of the Senate: a way to find the important moments of our history and to share with the younger generations near and far.
On the occasion of the new layout of the museum offers themed tours on the first Sunday of the month at 17.
