About two hundred period photographs, a significant choice of graphic works, sculptures and paintings from the Musée national Picasso-Paris will be on display at the Museo dell'Ara Pacis for the exhibition Picasso images. The works, the artist, the personage, which outlines in an unprecedented way the career of an exceptional artist and an intimate portrait of a man who has built its worldwide fame through the care of his image.
The three sections of the exhibition investigate the connections that the greatest artist of the twentieth century established with photography: the first attempts to use this medium as an instrument of investigation of the surrounding world, to help him in his work and witness of the progress of his creations, the fruitful artistic collaborations with avant-garde photographers, such as Brassaï and Dora Maar, who then became his partner. The last section shows the artistic maturity of Picasso when, after the war, he personally curated his artist imagery on the press, a thing which helped to make him a very popular personage and to fuel his myth.
