FARE LUCE: THE INSTALLATION
“FARE LUCE” is the title of the installation designed by the architect Giovanni Maria Filindeu for Foscarini Spazio Brera during Milano Design Week 2017. In the spaces at Via Fiori Chiari/Via Pontaccio, completely emptied for the occasion, six different settings will be created, corresponding to six different forms of light, conceived not in terms of technical performance but with a pure focus on their evocative dimension. An engaging path of immersion, in which to be swept away by the striking impressions, delicate and profound emotions.
“Light and shadow are the first and most essential materials the world offers to architecture to grant meaning to space and transform it into a specific place,” Filindeu explains, to introduce his project for Foscarini Spazio Brera. “Immersion in these environments is a voyage that conveys, in space and through space, emotions and memories, triggered and nurtured by the manifestation of light. The path is accompanied and paced by music composed to structure the experience: each setting becomes a resonating chamber, with its own material, its own proportions, its own sound. Music thus becomes the voice of light.”
“Visitors enter the path from the room that enacts the first encounter with light: a lace sky transforms memory in space, a Sunday afternoon at the beginning of spring. We then enter the room of light and space, where light becomes geometry and transforms the environment. Next, we discover the gift of light and light as place: a starting point, to which one inevitably returns. Light is also energy and force, all the way to the spectacle of the sky that fills with the seven colours of the rainbow, a prize for children of all ages who have been patient during the rain,” Filindeu concludes.
An installation that is a voyage of discovery: a personal, intimate, engaging experience.
At Foscarini Spazio Brera, Via Fiori Chiari 28, Milan, from 4 to 29 April 2017.
FARE LUCE: THE BOOK
“FARE LUCE” (SHEDDING LIGHT) is also the title of a book that will be presented for the first time during Milano Design Week, investigating the theme of light, with contributions ranging through architecture, design, art, graphic design, photography and illustration. Edited by Beppe Finessi, the book FARE LUCE, like the publishing project Inventario, does not talk about Foscarini through its collection, but by offering cultural perspectives and contents that reflect the company’s DNA. A book as a theorem, then, which makes the desire of Foscarini to produce and propagate culture coincide with the main focus of the company’s work: light.
FARE LUCE: THE ESSENCE OF FOSCARINI
FARE LUCE: two words, simple and essential, are capable of describing the Foscarini universe in all its expressions. “Fare”, making, generating, creating, shedding light, and “luce”, light, a concept, a starting point and goal of all the work of the company. Words that sum up all the meanings connected with discovery, research, the desire to understand, to share and reveal.
“For us, FARE LUCE becomes a true slogan,” says Carlo Urbinati, President of Foscarini. “It expresses our essence: it sums up a program, a working method, a path. FARE LUCE means clothing a fascinating material like light in forms that aim to inspire, to make their mark. And it also expresses our mindset that makes original visions emerge, our drive to always seek new meanings, which form the basis of our creative process.”
