Interiors of homes of “ideal parent figures”, as the artist define them. They are, as Roberta Valtorta writes in her essay “secular temples”, presented not in the solemn form of a temple, but as a “social family album”.
Sonia Lenzi, says Roberta Valtorta “has chosen to photograph the interiors of the homes of cultural and civic figures whom she loves and respects and who are still alive, and feels that they are part of her history”. The title indicates “a desire for communion and belonging, along with a sense of loneliness and melancholy, that we read in the colours, in the lights, in the way of composing the images”. Sonia Lenzi, “who has been engaged for some time with themes revolving around family, identity, memory, social history and death, works on two parallel, but not coincident planes (in a relationship that Marcel Duchamp would refer to as embodying the concept of infra-thin) composing a sort of family album that is both intimate, personal and public, addressed to the community, and ideally, being within the community”. Both the successes and the failures of the relationships with the persons involved are part in this family album. In this exhibition, within the spaces of another home, the one belonged to Carlo Gajani, Francesco Guccini, Giancarla Codrignani, Eugenio Riccomini e Romano Prodi.
